Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Program is a unique program initiated by the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India, to mentor, support and nurture innovation in Biotechnology Industry of India. To implement its mandate BIRAP is looking for highly motivated industry experienced candidates who can take up this activity as a big challenge at its Delhi office.
Programme Manager – Healthcare
No. of Post: 1
Code: HC-1
Educational Background: The candidate should be a M.Sc./M.Tech /M.VSc in Applied Life Sciences/Biotechnology/ Medical Microbiology/ Biochemistry or MBBS with first class in post-graduation
Desirable: Ph.D.
Job Description: Responsible for coordinating and managing programmes in affordable health care which include vaccines, diagnostics, therapeutics, biosimilar, implant and devices etc. This would also include techno economic evaluation, market analysis and assessment of proposals.
Programme Manager – Green Technology
No. of Post: 1
Code: GT-2
Educational Background: M.Sc./ M.Tech in Life Sciences and/or specialization in biochemical engineering, food processing, microbiology, enzyme research, environmental sciences, industrial processes with first class in post-graduation.
Desirable: Ph.D. in related areas
Job Description: Would be responsible for coordinating the activities and programmes in area of secondary Agriculture and Green Technology- Clean and renewable energy, environment, industrial process and scale up etc.
Manager – Business Development and Corporate Affairs

Code: BD&CA-3
Educational Background: The candidate should have graduation in science with first division and also have a degree in Company Secretary as well as in Business Management i.e. Company Secretary (Inter) with MBA or Company Secretary with diploma/degree in business management.
Desirable:LLB would be an added qualification.
Job Description: Responsible for convening meetings of Board and other Committees, ensuring compliance with the provisions of various Corporate Laws, Drafting minutes, promoting business development etc.
Consultant – Secondary Agriculture
No. of Post: 1
Essential Qualifications: Candidates having outstanding credentials in scientific, academic and technological achievements with master’s degree (Agriculture/Food Technology/ Agri-business) and having a minimum of 10 years of experience in the field of agricultural research/ implementing government supported projects in agribusiness promotion.
Desirable: Candidates having Ph. D./ MBA in related area and working experience in Public-Private-Partnership projects will be preferred.
Job Description:
- Undertake analytical work to identify policy and investment priorities to accelerate secondary agriculture inIndia;
- To study the national and international programs which will have implications on fostering development of secondary agriculture sector;
- Suggest agri-business models in the supply chain operations and management of primary agriculture produce.
- To coordinate planning, management and timely implementation of approved projects under BIRAP;
- Suggest Public-Private-Partnership in biotechnology research and relevant agro-enterprises development.
- Frequent travel across the country to formulate the need based programs and to oversee implementation of the ongoing programs.
Salary for above positions: Consolidated salary for the posts S.No. 1 to 3 ranging from Rs. 4.50 lakhs to Rs. 6.00 lakhs per annum and for the post at S.No. 4, Rs. 6.50 lakhs to Rs. 7.50 lakhs per annum depending upon qualification and experience
Age Limit: Maximum 40 years as on 01.01.2011 for posts at S. No. 1 to 3
Mode Appointment: All posts are contractual initially for a period of 1 year with a scope of further extension.
